SURFING at the edge
of the world
Private Surfing Adventures
in Siargao

There’s surfing—and then there’s surfing at the edge of the world.

On the island of Siargao, surrounded by the warm, glimmering waters of the Pacific, a different kind of wave-riding experience unfolds. One not defined by competition or crowds—but by presence. By silence. By the sound of your breath between sets.

At this barefoot island retreat, surfboards aren’t just waxed—they’re whispered to. Mornings begin with the shimmer of first light, as boats glide across glassy waters and the world feels untouched. Secluded reef breaks lie ahead, waiting in perfect stillness. And when you paddle out, it’s not just about catching a wave. It’s about finding yourself in it.

This is not a surf school. This is not a package.

This is surfing, the Nay Palad way. Slow. Soulful. Utterly yours.

The Magic of Siargao
A Surfer’s Dream Island

Siargao is no secret to those who follow the swell. Known as the surfing capital of the Philippines, it’s home to the legendary Cloud 9—famed for its thick, barrelling right-hander and the magnetic pull it holds for world-class talent.

But beneath the buzz lies something quieter. Something softer. A coastline fringed with reef breaks of every temperament—from the gentle rise of a beginner-friendly roller to the speed and bite of a pro-level barrel.
It’s a place where surf is a rhythm, not a rush. Where the water stays warm year-round. And where even in the off-season, a wave will always find you.

Whether you’re carving clean lines or learning to pop up for the first time, Siargao offers a playground of possibility—with nature as your guide and the ocean as your teacher.

🌀 Best Season: August to November for bigger, more powerful swells
☀️ Off-season: Still blessed with empty lineups and hidden gems

🌞 A Day in the Life of a
Nay Palad Surfer

6:00 AM

The day begins with the hush of the sea and the first warm breeze of morning brushing through your open-air villa. Light filters through palm leaves as you stretch awake, and on your bedside table, a handwritten note from your TropicSurf guide awaits:
“We’re heading north. Break’s clean and glassy. Be ready by seven.”

7:00 AM

After a light island breakfast and a grounding stretch in the treehouse lounge, you board our private Nay Palad boat. The ocean is still, painted in soft gold as the sun rises behind you. The world feels like it’s just for you.

8:00 AM

You arrive at a remote reef break. The water is crystal clear. The waves—perfectly shaped and rolling in rhythm—call you in. There’s no one else here. It’s just you, your board, the swell, and your breath. You paddle out, heart steady, soul open.

11:00 AM

After hours in the water, you step onto a hidden beach. A barefoot luxury picnic is waiting under the palms—cold drinks in hand, fresh coconuts cracked open, grilled seafood served on handwoven platters, and laughter shared with your guide and fellow surfers. This is not a lunch; it’s a celebration.

2:00 PM

Back at the Hideaway, you ease into stillness. A gentle massage melts tension from shoulders and sun-warmed skin. Afterwards, you sway in your hanging daybed, the island breeze wrapping you like a soft lullaby as you drift into a sunlit nap.

6:00 PM

The day begins to close. Sunset aperitifs are served at the pool bar, the sky burning amber above. You gather with newfound friends, sharing stories of the day’s rides—your first barrel, your longest line—with salt still on your lips and joy in your chest.

7:00 PM

End your day in the treetops with a candlelit dinner by Chef Thorsten, featuring the freshest catch and organic garden ingredients. With an ocean breeze and stars above, it's a serene, unforgettable way to unwind after the waves.

10:00 PM

Sleep comes easily here. Wrapped in island quiet, you drift off under linen sheets, the sea still murmuring outside. Tomorrow, another secret spot will be waiting.
Somewhere new.
Somewhere beautiful.
Somewhere only you will know.

COCO HO'S
TOP FIVE SURF TIPS

Ride the waves with confidence —straight from a pro.

When Caity Simmers, 2024 World Champion, and Coco Ho, Supergirl Pro Champion, visited Nay Palad Hideaway in October 2024, they weren't just chasing waves-they were soaking in the soul of Siargao. From the rhythm of the tides to the warmth of the people, the island gave them the perfect backdrop to reconnect, recharge, and ride.

"When we arrived in Siargao, we immediatelyfelt that this island was truly special. The vibes are unique and it was the best place to reconnect with what we love."
— Caity Simmers
Inspired by the laid-back magic of the island, Coco Ho shared her top five tips for beginner surfers— designed to help you paddle out with ease, stay balanced, and fall in love with the ride.

The right board is key.
Get acquainted with the mechanics of a surfboard and tailor your choice to your needs. Starting with a longboard offers a smooth learning curve, allowing you to catch more waves and feel the ocean beneath you. As you master the art of making your board an extension of yourself, you can transition to shorter boards for more challenging waves.

Dive into ocean knowledge.
Educate yourself about the dynamic interplay of tides, wind, and swell in wave formation. This understanding will empower you to pick the perfect time and spot for your surf sessions. Ideal conditions for novices feature waist-high waves gently breaking over sandy bottoms, offering a safe and forgiving environment.

Channel your inner boxer with a "strong stance."
Think of Muhammad Ali, light on his feet, knees flexed, and his core engaged. And keep your eyes up! If you look down, your body will obediently follow, resulting in a wipe-out. Keep your eyes fixed on the wave or the shoreline in front of you for balance and control.

"Fun if you get one. None is okay too."
This was my dad's way of imparting that not every session yields a bounty of waves. Embrace gratitude, stay present in the moment, and relish the natural beauty around you - that's what surfing's all about!

Embrace the wisdom of a surfing sensei.
After all, you can't know what you don't know. Find an experienced instructor to help you grasp the essential building blocks of surfing.

A huge thank you to Coco for sharing her wisdom—and her stoke —with us all. If your excitement is sky-high but your wave count still needs work, we've got you covered. Our Tropicsurf team is here to help you turn those tips into unforgettable sessions in Siargao's pristine, uncrowded breaks. The ocean's calling... are you ready to answer?
